Anyone who knows me knows me by my hair... I get stopped on nearly a daily basis and asked how I get my hair that colour.
Now you're going to struggle to get your hair grey/silver if you're not blonde/light brown haired to start with, unless your hair dresser is Guy Tang (the man is amazing! Check him out on Youtube). I have my hair highlighted every 4 months or so, yes I end up with massive regrowth, but you want your hair lightened to a very nearly platinum white. If I'm able I will also get the hairdresser to use a toner, however some salons don't always stock the grey colours.
Now my trick and only way to keep my hair silver/grey is my trusty Fudge Violet toning shampoo. It's amazing, It will knock out the brassiest of yellow tones and leave you with a violet ashier looking blonde. You can grab a litre bottle from the Bath and unwind website for £20!! This will last me about 6 months.
If I'm struggling to blend my freshly bleached roots with the rest of my hair I often use a Knight and Wilson Colour Freedom Metallic glory hair colour. Now these say that they are permanent but the vibrance of the colour fades after a week or two. They have a great range of shades from greys and purples to pinks and blacks. I'll either use silver grey, graphite grey or silver steel.
Hope this helps anyone who is wanting to go grey, I can also reccomend a few salons if you're from the Kent area!
